The ACG extends, then, inland across the mud flats (here, deforested by the cutting of mangroves for firewood for salt harvest) through the mangroves (the leafy trees just at high tide line) and up the dry forest hillsides. This dry forest is leafless here (dry season) but there are some evergreens visible mixed in with them. This hill has been variously logged, burned, cultivated and otherwise cut over the past four centuries. When the forest is completely grown back, it may be as much as 1/4 to 1/3 evergreen during the dry season.
