A beaver house (also called beaver lodge) in a small beaver pond (the beaver dam is out of sight). This small beaver house was probably constructed by a newly mated pair of two-year-old beaver building their first house in the pond created by their first dam. If they are successful at buiilding a higher (and probably longer) dam to make a larger impoundment in future years, they and their offspring will also enlarge this house to a larger size.
