In this map of the ACG, the ACG per se is not visible, but rather the entire country is blue, as a reflection of the ACG influence throughout the country, both within the Ministry of the Environment and Energy (MINAE) and within the Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad (INBio). And there there are the long blue lines into other countries. These are two kinds of ACG and Costa Rican influences. First, there are conservationists and biodiversity developers in those other countries that gain from and contribute to the biodiversity development of the ACG and to Costa Rica as a whole. Second, a huge proportion of the species in the ACG have ranges from up into the northern tropics somewhere and/or south to South America. This means that information gathered about the ACG species is a service to all those other countries, and thus heavily international even though local in origin, and that information gathered about one of those species in some other country gives clues to its biology within the ACG. Internet is a potential godsend for both of these outreach and inreach activities.
