While most of the logs actually do float, and thus can be rafted as described above, a few of the logs (e.g., ebony and ebony-like wood) are so dense that they are heavier than water and sink. Such logs are suspended on floater as in this image. There is a very large diameter log just below the surface, suspended on heavy wire from the smaller crosspieces that are in turn held up by the two floater logs.
