Digging down into a Liomys seed cache, this one is filled with about two cups of Enterolobium cyclocarpum seeds (Fabaceae) and was a side room off a main tunnel. The soil is wet season soil (damp pourous but not wet) and while most of the seeds are dormant hard, those that had fractured seed coats are starting to mold or rot. Different species of seeds will remain dormant when cached like this (and thus good stored food) for various numbers of months, but not indefinitely.
