This is a small portion of the seed variety (at least 20 species here) stolen (by me) from live-trapped Liomys pouches in one day in ACG dry forest. While there are many species here, the seeds that are edible to the mice are less than half the species of plants in this forest. In short, Liomys salvini is a seed specialist in the sense that it feeds largely on seeds (but see DHJanzen100539.jpg below), and can feed on many species of seeds that are toxic/inedible to other species, but it STILL cannot feed on many of the species of seeds in the forest (see below).
