What was the trussed up - long dead - tortoise, hanging in the rainforest understory? Finally determining that there was no trap, I went back to ask Papa Jean Marie. After some puzzlement, he then recalled that he had encountered the tortoise weeks before, trussed it up to pick up later for food, and then simply forgot it. One (more) dead tortoise. They were after EVERY scrap of meat.
