This is the view out of the train window between Philadelphia and New York. We all know what the problem is. There is too much carbon up there. Of course a major part of the solution is to stop putting it up there. But another way, in addition, is to start pulling it back down. This is today fashionably known as carbon sequestration. It used to be called forest restoration, or succession, or forest regeneration. Now, it is clear that forest restoration is certainly not going to solve the climate change problem, but within its small contribution lie also some larger solutions to other larger problems. While this New Jersey scene may not seem to have much to do with conservation in the ACG, or the ACG as a garden, in fact it does.
