Restoration of dry forest pastures to a forested state requires a very able and efficient fire crew, adults who come to think of the forest as theirs and react to it with dedicated vigor. But when planting trees for restoration of rainforest pastures, schoolchildren can become part of the workforce as well, and as they grow up, the forest grows up with them - and becomes theirs in a very personal sense. These Dos Rios school children are catching a ride home from school in their school uniforms, but on other days they were planting the seedlings grown from the seeds in image DHJanzen100857.jpg above in the eastern wetter ACG.
