Above is a sliced open Rothschildia lebeau cocoon with an Enicospilus lebophagus cocoon spun inside of it. The mass of material in the left end of the cocoon is the skin and head capsule of the caterpillar, not consumed by the wasp larva. The newly eclosed wasp cuts a hole through the end of its cocoon, and then pushes its way through the woven silk net door that the caterpillar constructed for the anticipated exit of its own adult.

Below is a sliced open Copaxa moinieri (Saturniidae) cocoon with an Enicospilus bozai cocoon spun inside it.
