All the hunters had families far away in some other part of Cameroun. And they sent part of their money to them (I never did determine how). But a substantial part also went to a massive blowout on banana beer - how much in celebration, and how much to forget the life in the forest, I was not able to determine. This beer is made by making a pit in the ground, lining it with rock and then banana leaves, putting in a very large number of ripe peeled bananas, mashing it up, and letting it ferment. This vitamin-rich concoction is an important part of their diet, though how important I cannot say. It has undoubtedly been around since time began. | ||
