The python came home, carried as such prey have been for millenia. The alert will notice that Doyle is now wearing his other suit of clothes. The more alert will notice that the python head is not nearly severed - see below.

Incidentally, pythons are Old World snakes, while boas (e.g., Boa constrictor) are New World snakes. Pythons lay eggs and incubate/protect them in a nest, while boas give birth to live young (and do not grow nearly as large as pythons).
