After being in the hunters camp and noting that the hunters disappeared during most of the day, I asked Doyle to ask the hunters if I could go out with them for a day as they checked their traplines. They were reluctant but Doyle finally convinced Papa Jean Marie that I was not a government agent sent to arrest them (though it was very strange indeed that a person would want to do this thing), so here we are setting out for the day. I do not know how far we walked, but it was at least 24 kilometers. Papa Jean is in the lead as we ford this river (why there was no fear of crocodiles will become evident below), with a machete (called cutlass in that world) and gunny sack held over his head, and Doyle behind.
