What a difference latitude makes. Here at about 42 degrees north (at Ailefroide in the French Alps), a glacier face fills a valley at about 2200 m - ice, snow and rock. A few centuries earlier, this glacier extended yet further down into the valley, and probably by the end of this century it will be gone.
