This Dusia fruit (Fabaceae) has solved the problem in a yet different way. The thick tough outer fruit wall is quite inedible and a dull brownish yellow - no attraction of animals. But when the ripe fruit dehisces, the brilliant red aril is sharply set off against the white inner wall of the fruit.
